Thorsmork, often referred to as the valley of the gods, is a pearl in the Icelandic highlands. Only accessible by modified vehicles or buses (no rental cars, please), the area combines both fun in crossing rivers and stunning wild nature scenery.

Seljalandsfoss and Gljufrarbui waterfalls are the first visits of the day. Marvellous to watch and enjoy before heading into Thorsmork valley itself. This is the perfect urban antidote. Once there, you could enjoy the scenery all day long by driving through. However, there are locations off the beaten track such as Nauthusagil canyon and Stakkholtsgja canyon that are worth a little hike and even to get your feet wet!

A magnificent view of the disappearing Gigjokull glacier which runs down to the north of the valley from Eyjafjallajokull is a must. You can walk up to the glacier and touch it! At the bottom of Thorsmork valley lies an accommodation and service area for hikes in the vicinity. It is the perfect place to have lunch (included) and hike up the hills in the area for excellent views of the magnificent godlike valley.

All in all a must do tour when in Iceland. A whole day packed with beautiful nature, hikes and authentic Icelandic experience. This tour takes you into a true gem of Icelandic nature in the middle of the Icelandic highlands.

This is as close to the Icelandic wilderness you can get in a single day.
