How to get the most out of
your Northern Lights Tour

Every day we monitor the Northern Lights forecast. Favourable conditions require at least moderate light activity, cold weather and a clear sky but even then, sightings are never guaranteed.

Conditions. The Northern lights are never a sure thing. During the day we examine the forecast and make a decision whether conditions meet expectations. Conditions are good when:

- The skies are clear. Clouds are in the way of the lights so we want as clear skies as possible.

- No light pollution. This is the reason we drive from the city. The lights pollute the visibility of the Northern Lights.

- Northern Lights activity. The Northern lights are particals from a solar eruption hitting the atmosphere. This is not a constant so the level of the lights may vary, if they are to be found.

What if we don’t find lights on the tour? If no lights are found on your tour, we offer you to to go again, upon availability. We call this a retry and it is free of charge. It is vital to contact us as soon as possible by email to eastwest@eastwest.is to guarantee your seat on a date of your choosing and we will do our best to accommodate. We can not issue a refund if no lights are found, as we are selling the tour and the possibility of Northern Lights. There are no guarantees.

WIFI There is free WIFI on the minibus. The network name is EASTWEST and the password is “eastwest”. Please like us on Facebook and Instagram @eastwesticeland ;)

Blankets and amenities. In this tour you are more than welcome to use the Icelandic wool blankets. Also we will serve hot chocolate and Kleina, an Icelandic pastry.

Photos. Photos will be taken on the tour by your guide. You can send us an email to eastwest@eastwest.is to request your pictures indicating the day you travelled. It takes us a couple of days after the tour to organize and send the pictures to everybody.

We look forward to having you!
