Northern Lights Private Tour
The Northern Lights await you: a customizable adventure under Iceland’s night sky.
What’s on my tour
Join us for an unforgettable night chasing the Northern Lights, wrapped in cozy Icelandic wool blankets, sipping hot chocolate, and enjoying traditional Icelandic pastries.
No words can truly capture the breathtaking beauty of the Aurora Borealis—it’s something you have to experience firsthand. Our goal is to give you the best opportunity to witness this mesmerizing natural phenomenon in the most comfortable and enjoyable way. That’s why our Northern Lights tour is thoughtfully designed to maximize your chances of seeing the lights while ensuring a truly immersive experience.
How the Tour Works
The Hunt Begins – Forecasting & Preparation
Each evening, our team closely analyzes the aurora forecast, taking into account solar activity and cloud coverage predictions. Since witnessing the Northern Lights depends on the right conditions—clear skies and sufficient solar energy—we only proceed when we believe there’s a reasonable chance of a sighting.
Our final decision is made during the day, and if conditions appear unfavorable, we reach out to our customers to check whether they would like to cancel the departure or proceed with it.
Heading into the Icelandic Night
Once we determine the best location based on the forecast, we set out in our comfortable vehicles. As we leave behind Reykjavík’s city lights, we head deep into the Icelandic wilderness, where the darkness offers the perfect backdrop for spotting the auroras.
Our knowledgeable guides carefully select the best possible viewing spot, whether it’s a secluded lava field, a serene lakeside, or an open valley surrounded by mountains. If the conditions shift unexpectedly, we stay flexible and adjust our route accordingly.
The Moment of Magic
When (and if) the shimmering green waves of the auroras appear, we stop and invite you to step outside to take in the spectacle. This is your chance to bundle up in a warm Icelandic wool blanket, breathe in the crisp Arctic air, and admire the celestial dance above.
To make the experience even more special, we serve rich hot chocolate and ‘kleina’—a delicious, traditional Icelandic pastry that perfectly complements the winter night.
To ensure you have lasting memories of this extraordinary experience, we also provide complimentary photos of you under the Northern Lights, so you can relive the moment forever.
