Northern Lights Tour
The unique experience of seeing the beautiful lights and vivid colors of the Aurora Borealis.
What’s on my tour
Words can hardly do justice to the awe-inspiring beauty of the Northern Lights. This natural wonder is something you simply have to see with your own eyes, and we want to ensure you get the most immersive experience possible. That is why our Northern Lights tour is carefully designed to give you the best chance of witnessing this breathtaking display, most comfortably and enjoyably.
How the Tour Works
The Hunt Begins – Planning & Forecasting
Every evening, our team closely monitors the Aurora forecast, which includes solar activity and cloud coverage predictions. Since seeing the Northern Lights depends on the right conditions—clear skies and sufficient solar activity—we only go out when we believe there’s a good chance of witnessing them.
Our final decision is made during the day, and if the conditions are promising, we send out an email confirmation to all our guests. Please remember to check your inbox (and spam folder) for updates! You can also find the latest tour status on our website.
Heading into the Icelandic Night
Once we determine the best location based on the forecast, we set off in our comfortable minibuses, with a maximum of 19 people per group to ensure a more personal and enjoyable experience. As we leave behind the city lights of Reykjavík, we drive into the Icelandic countryside, where darkness enhances the visibility of the auroras.
Our experienced guides carefully select the best viewing spot, whether it be an isolated lava field, a tranquil lake, or an open valley surrounded by mountains. If conditions change, we remain flexible and adapt our route accordingly.
The moment of magic
Once (if) the green veil of the auroras appears in the sky, we will stop and let you out so you can enjoy the dazzling spectacle. It’s your moment to wrap yourself in a warm Icelandic wool blanket, breathe in the fresh Arctic air and marvel at the lights spinning across the sky.
To make the experience even more special, we serve steaming hot chocolate and traditional Icelandic pastries known as “kleina”, a sweet and comforting treat that perfectly complements a winter evening.
To capture this unforgettable moment, we also offer complimentary photographs under the Northern Lights, so you can cherish the memory forever.
The adventure does not end there
If the Northern Lights do not appear during your tour, do not worry! We offer a free reattempt, allowing you to join us again on another night (subject to availability) at no additional cost.
